If there were no dreams,
could I believe in such beauty
as I saw in you?
Could there be such wonder in a
childs eyes ever blue?
Could there be such fantasies as to
satisfy my desire"
If there were no dreams, then
there would be no ambition, no heroes to admire.
If there were no dreams,
could I live without your
warm embrace?
Could I remember the love
on your smiling face?
Could I remember how our hands
At awkward moments meet?
If there were no dreams, then
there would be no memory; no, nothing so sweet
If there were no dreams,
my pen would never again
touch the wordless page,
I would not speak in prose
or act on the starlit stage,
I would not hold you closer
while we were dancing.
If there were no dreams, then
there would be no midnight romancing.
If there were no dreams,
how could I love you
day and night?
Where would we meet
between the darkness and
light?
If there were no dreams, then
nothing would appear nor
remains as it seems,
and I would not want to live
without my dreams.
