Love Letters

Love letters written on scraps of memory like scattered sheets
Passed in secret, crumpled in balls in order to be discrete.
Lover letters to be torn apart in fits of anger and of pain
To bloch and bleed in the tears that fall from their face like rain.

Love letter writing, the skill of the pen and the ink
Of passion and desire, of words and thoughts to think
Of desire and of the fire, like blood rushing to the brain
Of craziness and the game, of madness and the insane.

Love letters folded and hurriedly hidden away
Shame painted on faces, innocence holds sway.
Taken up by the teacher, revealed to all
Heating your face, making you want to be so small.
Dipped in perfume, sensual and very sweet
Read in the hall, feeling it’s limits, incomplete.

I love you she writes in simple excited tones
Oho he thinks, he longs to get her number to phone
Sometimes they are pretty, sometimes they are hot
Sometimes they leave you cold, sometimes not.
Love amongst the young, always the same and yet still new
Risky and wild, pure and sometimes true.

Love letters given to the one you would love
As if your fates are entwined by the stars above
Until you open their locker door only to find
All of your love letters have been left behind

She clutches his final sharp words to her chest
He wonders around deject, did he fail some test?
She cries and wishes that he would just call
He wonders what action caused his fall.
She waits for him, but he doesn’t have the guts
He spends a lot of time staring, no ifs and or buts-
She hides the pages and dries her tears.
The love letters will sit unread for years.
